Trusting Your Body and Yourself -- By Sharon Burch, ARPN

What if you could completely trust your body as your ally? Like your best friend, your body’s got your back and wants to support you.

Trusting your body looks like this:

  • You do not fear your body betraying you, going off course, or disappointing you.

  • You stop hating your body into submission.

  • You cherish your body as the vehicle through which you get to live your precious life.

  • You sit with yourself; feel into your body and your intuition.

  • You listen to your body as you would listen to a beloved friend.

  • You get curious: pay attention, and ask questions.

Some of those questions and that vibrant curiosity if something you can practice right now by asking yourself questions such as:

  • What is happening in my life right now?

  • What is the message my body is giving me?

  • What do I need now?

You can decide what would help your body, soothe your emotions, or reassure your mind right now. You can trust that you innately know how to care for yourself. Then you experiment. You might try these simple things to take good care of yourself and open the doors to listen to your body more completely:

  • Deep breathing

  • Meditation

  • Enough water each day

  • Adequate and deep rest

  • Healthy food

  • Journaling

  • Walking

  • Talking to a friend

  • Listening to music

These simple, necessary actions can help, and we dismiss them too often. When we regularly check in with our body, we learn its distress signals and discern its needs.

Your life is yours to care for. Your whole self—body, and mind—is longing for your love and attention. Become an expert on your own body, mind, emotions, and spirit.
